lyrics

Do you remember when we were kids,
and everything seemed so permanent?
I made a promise to you that Sunday
but it never played out that way

So it goes… those paths they do diverge
But I find myself wishing for some of my yesterdays.

Nothing can change the past or the time we spent
It’s funny how we are defined by these single moments
Nothing can change our parts or the roles we played
It’s funny how we are defined by these single moments

Some suns and many moons had passed,
seventeen and forced to grow up way too fast
Somedays I dream I see you again
And maybe I’d smile like I used to way back then

So it goes… sometimes those tears still fall
Cause in my heart, I know you’re trapped in my yesterdays

Nothing can change the past or the time we spent
It’s funny how we are defined by these single moments
Nothing can change our parts or the roles we played
It’s funny how we are defined by these single moments

Another light goes out down the street in the house where you used to live
I try to visit your parents when I’m around, but it’s hard to see them old
I know I never explained it, I hope they know that you changed me
You made me who I am today
A debt I can never repay; the lease on life you gave me
Saved me from regretting a single defining moment

Nothing can change the past, or the steps we took
It’s funny how it can end in a single moment.
